Carolyn Janusz | Principal Lawyer

Carolyn Janusz is the founding lawyer of GoodWin Law. She pursued the creation of GoodWin’s Team on the foundation of zealous commitment to the “Good Win” for workers and trade unions.
Carolyn’s journey toward championing workers’ rights began with a CAW-sponsored internship at the International Labour Organization in Geneva. Throughout her career, she has continually expanded her expertise, gaining valuable insights from roles at esteemed institutions such as the Ontario Ministry of Labour and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. Additionally, her academic pursuits, including studies at American University’s Public International Law Program, have further enriched her understanding of labour law.
With experience as both an associate and partner in prominent law firms in Toronto and Vancouver, Janusz has amassed a wealth of knowledge and skill across various industries. Her areas of expertise encompass diverse sectors such as post-secondary and public education, fire service, construction, and professional sports. Regardless of the industry or legal issue at hand, Janusz’s strength as an advocate lies in her ability to thoroughly analyze legal matters and devise strategies that lead to enduring solutions for her clients.
Although she travels extensively throughout British Columbia to cater to client needs, Janusz’s primary base is in Kamloops. Here, she shares her expertise by co-teaching labour law at Thompson Rivers University’s Faculty of Law.
Carolyn is proficient in both English and French, offering her services to clients in either language. This linguistic versatility underscores her commitment to ensuring effective communication and representation for all her clients.
Jeremy Miller | Associate Lawyer

Jeremy was called to the BC Bar in 2019. Since then he was worked as an investigator and in-house lawyer at two professional regulators in BC. Jeremy has also worked as the Staff Lawyer at the UBC Innocence Project at the Allard School of Law.
Jeremy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria. Before law school, Jeremy worked as a childcare provider and a respite provider for children with disabilities. Jeremy also worked as an activist and advocate, founding and leading an international campaign in which he rode his bicycle and presented all around the world, with the help of his trusty ukulele. Following the end of his campaign, Jeremy wanted to continue working as an advocate, but with a greater ability to create meaningful change. This led Jeremy to begin his journey into the law. Jeremy received his Juris Doctor from the Allard School of Law at UBC in 2018.
Jeremy practices in the areas of professional regulation, labour, employment, and human rights law with a focus on Union and employee representation. Jeremy’s passion for helping professionals and unionized workers is driven by the same value that has carried him from child and youth care to advocacy to law – that people deserve capable and compassionate support as they navigate challenging systems and situations. Jeremy’s professional regulation practice is supported by his years of working in-house at professional regulators and he is excited to apply his knowledge of these institutions towards helping professionals navigate the process of effectively responding to complaints that have been made against them.
Jeremy is an exceptional communicator, driven by a powerful intellect and a keen eye for detail. He has unwavering interest in finding the best path forward for his clients.
Jeremy lives on Bowen Island, BC, with his wife, young daughter, and dog. Outside of work Jeremy enjoys playing music and video games, building things, and spending time with his family and community around Bowen.
Leigh Lester B.A., J.D. | Associate Lawyer

Leigh joins GoodWin Law as an Associate Lawyer and 2023 Juris Doctorate graduate from TRU’s Faculty of Law. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Justice Studies from Royal Roads University, and a background working as a personal injury legal administrative assistant, it was Leigh’s passion for social justice and equity that drove her to pursue a law degree in order to better apply her moral convictions and sharp analytical skills toward helping people with everyday legal problems.
Leigh takes pride today in developing her practice in labour, employment, and human rights law with a focus on Union and employee representation.
Equally competitive as she is compassionate, Leigh’s strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to approach problem-solving thoughtfully and creatively makes Leigh a fierce legal advocate for her clients. Leigh is also a meticulous writer and genuinely lives for the thrill of crafting the perfect argument (legal or otherwise) that packs the appropriate punch.
Leigh currently resides in Kamloops, BC with her husband and two kids. When not hard at work, Leigh enjoys traveling, fitness training, ruthlessly winning card and board games, and spending time with her family around Vancouver Island.
Rory Erickson (he/him) B.A., J.D. | Articled Student

Employing over a decade’s experience as a community consultant, educator, and union member, Rory Erickson (he/him/his) offers a progressively minded, relationship-oriented approach to resolving legal problems and advancing workers’ rights. Before joining GoodWin Law, Rory provided legal services to clients through community legal clinics where he appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court and the Provincial Courts of British Columbia and Alberta, as well as administrative tribunals in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
Rory assists unions and individuals in all aspects of labour relations and employment law, ranging from daily strategic advice to grievances before arbitrators, and applications before the labour relations board. Rory provides representation to individuals appearing before administrative tribunals on professional misconduct and disciplinary matters and he also acts for unions before boards of arbitration and on labour board matters.
Rory is a creative, effective, and personable advocate who believes in the importance of understanding the long-term objectives of his clients as well as their day-to-day needs. A recipient of several academic awards, including the inaugural Royal Society of Canada’s Justice Rosalie-Silberman-Abella Prize, Rory has been invited to present to academic and professional audiences to support practical legal and policy solutions. Rory’s community-centred professional experience includes the development of the first youth-led, municipally-integrated 2SLGBTQIA+ program in the Tri-Cities, and he has been engaged with supporting the integration of anti-racism education and decolonizing trauma-informed practice within regulated professions, including healthcare, law, social work, and teaching. Carrying forward these approaches in his legal practice, Rory’s strong interest in equality, labour movements, workplace justice, and social activism has enabled him a unique perspective in developing strategies that both defend and advance the rights of workers.
Tammy McLaren | Legal Assistant & Office Admin

Tammy is passionate about helping people achieve their goals and overcome challenges. She brings over 20 years of administrative support to her role as legal assistant/office manager for GoodWin Law to help its lawyers and clients do just that.
From her experience in client services in the banking industry, as Director of Corporate Services for a local government, and as Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of a school district, she has great insight into the building blocks of success: wise planning, strong organization, and adaptability to what arises despite the best set plan. Tammy also brings an outstanding attention to detail, alongside strong skills in listening and meeting client needs, that have enabled the achievements of her workplace teams throughout her administrative career.
Outside of the office, Tammy enjoys camping, kayaking, golfing, and a wonderful meal with friends and family!
